Always try to personalize invitations a bit... a good black and white photograph of the birthday person(probably from when they were very little, but you can go with a recent one too if you want) and either get invitations printed at your local print shop (even somewhere cheap like Kinkos or Staples) or go buy blank white invitations and paste the copied photo on.
